Gevrai sits in Beed district in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, on the broad Deccan plateau. From above the town reads as a dense core of short, irregular lanes, the older part of the settlement, surrounded by a looser ring of newer plots and lanes that run out towards the fields. The contrast between that knotted centre and the open land around it gives the map its shape.
