Golden Glades is an unincorporated community in northern Miami-Dade County, and its map is dominated by a single structure: the Golden Glades Interchange. Here Interstate 95, Florida's Turnpike, the Palmetto Expressway and several state roads meet in a tangle of ramps and flyovers that reads, from above, almost like a drawing of knots.
Around that junction the rest of the area follows the logic of South Florida suburbs: a flat grid of residential streets, single-storey homes on regular lots, and canals that cut straight lines through the neighbourhoods on land barely above sea level.
