Jāmul sits on the flat plain of Durg district, close to the steel city of Bhilai, and the map shows a place shaped by industry more than by old streets. Large plant sites appear as broad blocks crossed by service roads. Planned housing sits in tidy rectangles beside them, and the older village lanes wind between the two. The contrast between the orderly and the organic parts of town comes through clearly in black and white.
The town is known for its cement works, which have long been one of the main employers, and the industrial land takes up a large share of the map. Outside it, the grid loosens into fields and small water bodies typical of the Chhattisgarh plain. The land is almost level, so the roads run long and straight, and the linework looks calm and even.
