Jāmuria sits in the Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, north of Asansol, on the Raniganj coalfield. The town has no single tight centre. From above it is a loose cluster of built-up patches: older villages, colliery settlements and newer housing, joined by roads that follow the ground rather than a plan. The open land between them is part of what gives the place its shape on a map.
Coal has shaped this landscape for well over a century, and the map shows it. The street pattern breaks up around mining areas, rail sidings and industrial plots, and small water bodies sit among the fields. The Ajay River runs to the north, and the lowland along its course sets a soft edge to the district. The Jāmuria map poster keeps these pieces in plain black line and open white space.
On paper, the town reads as a working landscape rather than a composed one. Main roads link the clusters toward Asansol and Raniganj, and narrower lanes branch off to single neighbourhoods and collieries. This is not the dense grid of a planned city. A few main roads run between the clusters and on toward Asansol and Raniganj, giving the drawing its main lines. Smaller lanes spread out from them to fill the gaps.
Open ground
Fields, ponds and former mining land leave large open areas between the lines. On a minimalist poster these empty spaces carry as much of the composition as the streets do.
