Kadachira lies in Kannur district in northern Kerala, a few kilometres inland from the Arabian Sea coast. Like many places in this part of the state, it has no sharp boundary between town and countryside. Roads wind through a continuous landscape of houses, gardens and coconut palms, following the lie of the land rather than a planned grid.
The terrain is gently undulating. There are low hills of red laterite and damp valleys where paddy fields and small streams collect water during the monsoon.
