Złotów is a town in the north of Greater Poland, in a landscape of glacial lakes and forests. Several lakes lie in and around the town, and on the map they shape everything. The streets of the centre fit into the land between the lakeshores, bending around the water, while the Głomia river threads through the area.
The town has a long history as a local centre on the old borderlands between Polish and German territory, and its streets reflect several eras: an older core, later residential blocks, and newer housing spreading out toward the forests. The lakes remain the constant, with the town built around them rather than across them.
