Akwatia Map Poster & Print
Akwatia lies in Ghana's Eastern Region, in hilly, forested country drained by the Birim River. It is known across the country as a diamond-mining town. For much of the twentieth century it was the centre of Ghana's diamond production, and alluvial deposits along the Birim valley brought both industry and settlement.
From above, Akwatia has an irregular shape. It follows ridges and valley floors rather than any planned grid. Roads wind between hills, and neighbourhoods spread along the higher ground. Around the town, the land has been shaped by decades of mining, with cleared areas and water-filled pits breaking up the green cover.
An Akwatia map poster captures a place where geology and daily life are closely linked. The winding roads, clustered homes and scarred valley ground make a map that looks nothing like a coastal or plains town. For people with family ties to the Birim valley, it tells a very specific local story in simple black lines.

Mining landscape
Areas worked for alluvial diamonds break up the terrain around the town. They add irregular shapes and open ground that make the map unmistakable.
Hillside streets
Roads curve along ridges and slopes instead of following a grid. This gives the town an organic, branching outline that reads well in monochrome.
