The old market runs along the crest of the hill, forming a clear central spine from which lanes and steps branch down the slopes on either side.

Almora Map Poster & Print
Almora sits on a ridge in the Kumaon hills of Uttarakhand, high above the valleys of the Kosi and Suyal rivers. The town grew along the top of this ridge, so its layout is long and narrow, with the main bazaar running close to the crest and lanes dropping steeply down either side. From above, the shape of the hill is the shape of the town.
Almora was the capital of the Chand kings of Kumaon for centuries, and its old market streets still reflect that long history as a hill trading centre. On clear days the town looks north toward the snow peaks of the high Himalaya, a view that has drawn writers, travellers and spiritual seekers for generations.
An Almora map poster turns this ridge-line geometry into a strong graphic image. Hairpin roads coil down the slopes, footpaths link terraced neighbourhoods, and the spine of the bazaar runs through the middle. In black and white, the contour of the hill becomes visible through the streets alone, making it one of the more expressive small-town maps.

Switchback roads
Mountain roads approach Almora in tight bends and hairpins, adding looping curves to the edges of the map that contrast with the linear town centre.
Two river valleys
The Kosi and Suyal flow in the valleys below the ridge, framing the town and explaining its elongated, saddle-shaped footprint on the poster.
