Ambon Bay
The long, deep inlet takes up much of the poster. The city spreads along its southern shore, and roads curve around the water's edge.

Ambon Map Poster & Print
Ambon lies on the island of the same name in eastern Indonesia and is the capital of Maluku Province. On the map, the city curves around the shore of Ambon Bay, a long inlet that almost cuts the island in two. Streets gather tightly on the narrow coastal strip, and steep green hills rise behind them and limit how far the city can spread.
For centuries Ambon was central to the spice trade in cloves and nutmeg that drew Portuguese and then Dutch traders to the Maluku islands. Fort Victoria, originally a Portuguese fort later taken over by the Dutch, still stands near the waterfront. Today the city is the main port and administrative centre of the province.
An Ambon map poster shows how thoroughly geography shapes the city. A dense centre sits by the harbour, roads follow the coastline around the bay, and short streets reach up into the hills. The bay itself fills much of the composition, a reminder that the city has always looked toward the sea.

Harbour-front centre
The densest blocks sit near the port and the old fort. There, the historic town and the modern commercial centre come together by the water.
Hillside edges
Behind the coastal strip the land rises steeply. Streets climb only a short way before the network thins out into open, wooded hillside.

Pourquoi Ambon
Une carte qui a du sens
Ambon means a great deal to people from Maluku, including the large Moluccan community in the Netherlands. A map of the bay and the hometown streets is a lasting way to stay connected across the distance.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a village. Then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint makes the bay look especially striking.
