Ấp Long Thạnh Map Poster & Print
Ấp Long Thạnh lies in An Giang province, in the upper Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam, not far from the Cambodian border. Here the landscape is almost entirely flat and shaped by water: river channels, canals and ditches divide the land into long strips, and settlement follows these waterways in thin lines rather than spreading into compact blocks.
Houses tend to line the banks of canals and roads, so on the map the built area appears as ribbons running across the countryside. Between them lie rice fields, their boundaries forming a fine geometric pattern. The delta's great rivers carry water and silt through the region, and in the flood season large parts of the plain can be under water.
This is a landscape where water sets the structure of everything else, and that makes it striking in black and white. An Ấp Long Thạnh map poster shows the canals, the riverbanks and the ribbon settlements clearly, turning a quiet part of the delta into a composition of parallel and intersecting lines.

Ribbon settlement
Houses line the canal banks and roads in narrow strips, creating long, thin built-up lines rather than a dense town centre.
Rice field pattern
Between the waterways, rice fields cover the plain in small rectangular plots, adding a fine, regular texture across the whole composition.
