Compact centre
The densest part of town gathers along a few main roads, where markets, shops and services concentrate, and the street pattern thins out quickly toward the edges.

Ārabī Map Poster & Print
Ārabī lies in the Somali Region of eastern Ethiopia, in country where settlements are spaced far apart and the land between them is open and largely dry. On a map the town appears as a concentrated network of streets and compounds set against a wide, quiet background. Roads and tracks extend outward from it, connecting the town with neighbouring settlements and the grazing land around.
Much of the Somali Region is pastoral, and towns here serve as places of trade, schooling and services for a wider rural population. Rather than a planned grid or a historic walled core, Ārabī's street pattern is best read as it is: a practical arrangement of main roads, side lanes and open ground that has grown according to the needs of the people who live and trade there.
An Ārabī map poster is spare by nature. The contrast between the built-up area and the surrounding space gives it a strong, graphic quality. For people with family ties to the town, it offers a way to keep a place from home on the wall, drawn with the same care and precision as any capital city.

Open surroundings
Beyond the built-up area the map opens into wide, lightly marked land, so the town sits on the page like a small constellation of lines within generous empty space.
Connecting roads
Roads and tracks run out from the centre toward neighbouring settlements, long thin lines that show how the town is tied into the wider Somali Region.

Pourquoi Ārabī
Une carte qui a du sens
For those who grew up in Ārabī or have family there, a map is a simple and personal way to mark where they come from. It matters most, perhaps, to people now living far away in another city or another country.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be edited, for instance to add a family name or a year, and the poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. A free watermarked preview lets you check the design first.
