Badhoevedorp Map Poster & Print
Badhoevedorp lies in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, just west of Amsterdam and next to Schiphol Airport. It sits on the edge of the Haarlemmermeer polder, a former lake drained in the nineteenth century, and the map shows that heritage in its straight lines, canals and flat, orderly landscape. The village takes its name from the Badhoeve, a farm that once stood here.
The Ringvaart, the canal that encircles the polder, runs along one side of the village and forms a firm boundary. For many years the A9 motorway ran straight through Badhoevedorp. It was later moved to a new route around the village, and the old corridor has been redeveloped, a change visible in the street pattern.
A Badhoevedorp map poster shows a village defined by water, infrastructure and planning. Streets are laid out in tidy residential blocks, with canals and waterways threaded between them, and the airport's runways and approaches lie close by. In black and white, the geometry of a Dutch polder settlement comes through with particular clarity.

Rerouted motorway
The A9 once cut through the village and now runs around it, freeing the old route for new development and giving the map a clear before-and-after story.
Polder geometry
Straight roads, drainage ditches and rectangular plots reflect the drained lake bed beneath the village, giving the poster a calm, orderly structure.
