Bafut Map Poster & Print
Bafut lies in the North-West Region of Cameroon, a short drive north of Bamenda, in the high, rolling country known as the Grassfields. It is the seat of one of the region's best-known traditional kingdoms, ruled by the Fon of Bafut, and the town is organised less as a grid than as a spread of quarters, compounds and farms linked by roads across hills and valleys.
At its heart stands the Fon's palace, a large complex of traditional buildings that includes the sacred Achum shrine and has been proposed for UNESCO World Heritage status. Bafut also has a place in English literature: the naturalist Gerald Durrell stayed here with the Fon in the late 1940s and described the visit in his book The Bafut Beagles.
A Bafut map poster shows how a traditional capital sits within its landscape. The palace area forms a focal point, roads curve across the hills toward surrounding villages, and the fine lines of streams and footpaths fill the valleys between them. In monochrome it reads as a quiet, detailed portrait of Grassfields country.

Hills and valleys
Roads and settlements follow the ridges and slopes of the Grassfields, while streams run through the valleys, giving the poster a layered, flowing structure.
