Bājil Map Poster & Print
Bājil lies on the Tihama, the hot coastal plain that runs along Yemen's Red Sea shore, inland from the port city of Al Hudaydah. The land here is almost perfectly flat, and on a map the town appears as a compact grid of streets and compounds set among farmland and dry ground. To the east, the plain gives way to the foothills of the western highlands.
The main road inland from Al Hudaydah passes through Bājil, and much of the town's layout follows this route, with commercial streets along it and residential quarters spreading out on either side. Beyond the edges, tracks and field boundaries radiate across the plain, and seasonal watercourses from the highlands leave faint, winding marks through the surrounding land.
Bājil is a market and administrative centre for its district, and it has long been associated with a large cement factory on its outskirts. A Bājil map poster presents the town as a clean pattern of streets on an open plain, a quiet and precise record of a place that many people hold close even from a distance.

Compact grid
Residential quarters on either side of the main road form a dense, fairly regular pattern of short streets and compounds, the most detailed part of the map.
Tihama plain
Around Bājil the land is flat and open, marked by farm tracks and seasonal channels, which gives the poster wide, calm margins around the town.

Pourquoi Bājil
Une carte qui a du sens
For families from Bājil and the Tihama, many of whom live far from home, a map of the town is a quiet way to keep a place present. It carries the streets of childhood rather than the images of the news.
Choose your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or a year, and edit the coordinates line. Pick one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
