Twin bridges
The Vivekananda Setu and Nivedita Setu run side by side over the Hooghly, linking Bāli with Dakshineswar and giving the map a strong horizontal accent.

La carte
Bāli Map Poster & Print
Bāli lies on the west bank of the Hooghly in Howrah district, part of the continuous urban band that lines both sides of the river around Kolkata. From above it is a narrow, crowded strip: dense lanes between the riverbank and the railway, old ghats stepping down to the water, and newer housing spreading inland to the west.
Two bridges make the map instantly recognisable. The Vivekananda Setu, a road and rail bridge opened in the 1930s, and the newer Nivedita Setu beside it cross the Hooghly to Dakshineswar, where the Kali temple associated with Ramakrishna stands on the far bank. Together they form a pair of parallel lines across the wide river.
Just to the south, Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, sits on the same bank. A Bāli map poster can take in that stretch of waterfront with its temples and ghats, or pull back to show how Bāli merges seamlessly into Howrah and the neighbouring towns strung along the river.

Hooghly waterfront
Bathing ghats, temples and old buildings line the riverbank, where the wide sweep of the Hooghly forms the eastern edge of the town.
Dense inner lanes
Between the river and the railway line, a tight mesh of narrow streets fills almost every block, typical of the older riverside towns around Kolkata.

Pourquoi Bāli
Une carte qui a du sens
People who grew up in Bāli often think of it in relation to the river and the bridges, and this map puts both at the centre. It suits anyone with ties to Howrah or north Kolkata who wants a record of their own part of the city.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be changed to mark a home address, a wedding date or simply a neighbourhood name. Choose from five styles and download HD files for $9, or order a printed version with an optional wooden frame.
