Dense town core
At the centre, short streets and lanes interlock in an irregular pattern. This is the darkest, most detailed area of the print and the natural focal point of the composition.

Barāra Map Poster & Print
Barāra is a town in Ambala district, on the broad plain of northern Haryana. No hills bend the plan, so its shape comes from old lanes, a few main roads and the rectangular pattern of the farmland around it. The core is dense and irregular, the kind of street network that grows over generations rather than being laid out all at once.
From above, the contrast between centre and outskirts is striking. Narrow, closely packed streets in the middle give way to wider roads. These then lead into a patchwork of fields divided by straight tracks and water channels. A Barāra map poster holds both textures at once: the tight knot of the town and the calm geometry of the farmland around it.
Towns of this size form the backbone of rural Haryana, serving nearby villages with markets, schools and transport links. Few of them are ever mapped for the wall. Drawing Barāra in plain black lines puts it on equal footing with any city. It also gives former residents a detailed view of streets they may know by memory rather than by name.

Field patchwork
Around the town, farmland is divided into long rectangular plots. Their boundaries show as faint parallel lines that give the edges of the poster a quiet, orderly texture.
Radiating roads
A handful of main roads lead out from the centre toward neighbouring towns and villages. They draw clear spokes across the plain and anchor the town within its wider district.

Pourquoi Barāra
Une carte qui a du sens
People hang a map of Barāra for the same reason they keep old photographs: it holds a specific place steady. For anyone who grew up in Ambala district and now lives in a big city or abroad, the familiar lanes and roads become a personal reference point on the wall.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a family name or year, and edit the coordinates line. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files cover six sizes at 300 DPI, or you can order a matte print from a print partner.
