Iron ore hills
Ridges and forested slopes surround the town, and the roads bend around them, giving the map a more organic outline than most planned industrial towns.

La carte
Barbil Map Poster & Print
Barbil lies in Keonjhar district in the north of Odisha, close to the border with Jharkhand, in a hilly region that holds some of India's largest iron ore deposits. The town grew around mining, and its map reflects that origin: roads follow the contours of low ridges, and settlements cluster along the routes that connect the mines, railway sidings and markets.
Around the town, forested hills alternate with large mining areas whose terraced pits and haul roads appear as bold irregular shapes. Together with nearby Joda and other townships, Barbil forms part of a mining belt that supplies steel plants across eastern India, and trucks and freight trains are a constant feature of daily life.
A Barbil map poster offers something different from a city grid: a working landscape where town and industry are woven together. It is a fitting piece for mining engineers, for families who have lived through the town's changes, and for anyone who calls this corner of Odisha home or once worked in its hills.
