Berat Map Poster & Print
Berat lies in central Albania, on both banks of the Osum River where it cuts through a narrow gorge. The town's historic core, listed by UNESCO together with Gjirokastër, is known as the city of a thousand windows for the rows of Ottoman-era houses stacked up the slopes. From above, the river runs through the middle and the old districts climb the hills on either side.
The Mangalem quarter rises on one bank below the castle, and the Gorica quarter faces it across the water, linked by the stone Gorica bridge. At the top of the hill, the Kalaja is an inhabited citadel with its own lanes and churches. Newer parts of Berat spread out on flatter ground downstream.
A Berat map poster shows a town shaped by steep ground and a river. The winding Osum, the dense quarters on the slopes, the fortified hilltop and the modern town opening out beyond them make a drawing with clear layers, from the oldest streets to the newest.

Mangalem and Gorica
The two old quarters face each other across the water, their houses and lanes stacked on steep slopes and linked by the stone Gorica bridge.
The Kalaja
The castle on the hill above Mangalem is still inhabited, and its walls enclose a small network of lanes that appears as a distinct cluster at the top of the map.
