Beruwala Map Poster & Print
Beruwala lies on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka, roughly 55 kilometres south of Colombo. The town follows the shoreline in a long, narrow band, with the coastal road and the railway running parallel to the sea and side streets reaching down toward the beach. A small headland shelters the fishing harbour, and the map shows the town pressed between the water and green country inland.
Beruwala is widely regarded as the place where Arab traders first settled on the island many centuries ago. The Kechimalai Mosque, standing on a promontory above the harbour, is counted among the oldest mosques in Sri Lanka. The town is also associated with the gem trade, and a short way south the Bentota river opens into the sea.
A Beruwala map poster makes the most of the coast: the smooth line of the shore, the harbour's breakwaters, the parallel strokes of road and rail, and the finer web of lanes inland. It is a clean, horizontal composition that suits the place well, and a lasting memento for anyone whose family or travels are linked to this stretch of coast.

Road and rail
The coastal highway and the railway line run side by side through the town, two strong parallel lines that structure the whole map.

Une carte qui a du sens
