Bidar Map Poster & Print
Bidar sits on a laterite plateau in the northeastern corner of Karnataka, close to the borders of Telangana and Maharashtra. On a map the old town appears as a dense, irregular core enclosed by the line of its historic walls, with the fort occupying the northern side where the plateau drops away. Beyond it, newer neighbourhoods and roads spread outward into farmland in a looser pattern.
In the fifteenth century Bidar became the capital of the Bahmani Sultanate, and later of the Barid Shahi dynasty. Monuments from that period still anchor the city, including the fort complex and the madrasa of Mahmud Gawan. Bidar is also known for bidriware, a metal craft of silver inlaid into a darkened alloy, which takes its name from the city.
A Bidar map poster reads like a historic town drawn at human scale: narrow lanes inside the walls, broad fort grounds, and highways leading off toward Hyderabad and Kalaburagi. In black and white it has an almost engraved quality, echoing the contrast of silver on black that made the local craft famous well beyond Karnataka.

Walled old town
Inside the old walls the street pattern is tight and irregular, a mesh of lanes that contrasts clearly with the straighter roads of later extensions.
Plateau edge
The city stands on raised ground, and the way roads fall away from the plateau gives the outer parts of the poster a sense of open, sloping land.

Pourquoi Bidar
Une carte qui a du sens
Bidar speaks to people with family in Karnataka, to students of Deccan history and to anyone who owns a piece of bidriware. The map pairs naturally with that craft: a dark ground and fine, bright lines.
Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir, with light streets on a dark ground, is a fitting match for this city. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
