Bitung Map Poster & Print
Bitung lies at the north-eastern end of Sulawesi, on the eastern side of the Minahasa peninsula, and its map is defined by the Lembeh Strait. The city lines the western shore of this narrow channel, with the long outline of Lembeh Island just across the water. Streets run along the coast and climb into the hills behind, while port facilities and piers extend into the strait.
The strait's sheltered deep water made Bitung one of the main harbours of eastern Indonesia and a major fishing port, especially for tuna. It is also known among divers worldwide for muck diving in Lembeh Strait, and the Tangkoko nature reserve just north of the city protects forest that is home to tarsiers and crested black macaques.
A Bitung map poster presents a city held between hills and sea: the strip of streets along the shore, the geometric blocks of the port, the rising ground behind, and the calm band of water separating it from Lembeh. It is a strong, unusual composition, suited to anyone who has lived, worked or dived there.

Port and piers
Harbour facilities extend along the waterfront in straight piers and wide yards, a more geometric pattern than the residential streets nearby.
Hills behind town
Inland the land rises quickly, and the street network thins into winding roads as it climbs toward forested hills and the reserve to the north.

Pourquoi Bitung
Une carte qui a du sens
Bitung means different things to different people: a hometown, a posting at the port, or the base for a dive trip in the strait. A map of the town and the channel works as a personal reminder of any of these, and it looks especially good at a larger size.
Add the name of a dive trip, a date or a family name in the title and subtitle, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster, framed or unframed.
