Yuna River
The river winds past the town through the valley, a curving line that contrasts with the regular streets and gives the map its natural edge.

Bonao Map Poster & Print
Bonao is the capital of Monseñor Nouel province, in the centre of the Dominican Republic. From above, it lies on the flat ground of the Yuna River valley, with the mountains of the Cordillera Central rising to the west. The town has a regular grid in its centre, and the Autopista Duarte, the main highway between Santo Domingo and Santiago, runs along its edge.
The river curves past the town, and rice fields and farms cover much of the surrounding valley. Nearby, a large ferronickel mine has been a major industry for decades. Bonao also has a strong artistic identity, associated with painter Cándido Bidó, who was born here and whose work celebrates the Dominican landscape.
A Bonao map poster combines the orderly centre, the sweeping line of the highway and the bends of the Yuna River. It is a clear and balanced composition, with the mountains implied by the open space to the west. For Dominicans at home or abroad, it is a recognisable part of the country's heartland.

Autopista Duarte
The country's main north-south highway passes along the town, drawn as a strong, continuous stroke that ties Bonao to Santo Domingo and Santiago.
Town grid
The centre follows a neat pattern of rectangular blocks, the densest part of the poster and a typical example of Dominican town planning.
