Fishing harbour
The port is protected by breakwaters that curve out into the bay. Their hooked outline is one of the most recognisable shapes on the map of the town.

Bou Ismaïl Map Poster & Print
Bou Ismaïl lies on the Mediterranean coast of Tipaza Province, west of Algiers, on the wide bay that carries its name. From above, the town is a fairly regular grid of streets set back from the sea, with a coast road running along its edge and the harbour forming a compact, hooked shape at the waterline. Behind the town, farmland stretches across the coastal plain.
During the French colonial period the town was called Castiglione, and its planned street layout dates from that time. Today it is known for its fishing port and for beaches that draw summer visitors from the capital region. The town has grown beyond its original grid, and newer housing extends inland and along the coast in both directions.
A Bou Ismaïl map poster shows how a small coastal town arranges itself between land and sea: the calm blue expanse of the bay, the harbour breakwaters, the ordered centre and the looser growth around it. It is a clean composition that suits a seaside home, or the wall of someone whose family comes from the Tipaza coast.

Colonial-era grid
The older centre follows a planned grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks. It stands out clearly against the more irregular newer districts around it.
Coast road
A road follows the shoreline through and beyond the town, linking it with neighbouring coastal settlements. On the map it traces the line of the bay.
