Bujaru Map Poster & Print
Bujaru lies in northeastern Pará, in the lowlands east of Belém, where the rivers of the Amazon estuary region spread into a dense web of channels. From above, the town is a small grid of streets on a riverbank. Forest, farmland and a network of narrow creeks surround it and wind in every direction across the flat terrain.
Water shapes daily life here. Boats are still an important way of moving between riverside communities, and many homes and small settlements line the waterways rather than the roads. The landscape mixes secondary forest, açaí groves and cultivated land, and tides from the estuary reach far inland into the rivers around the town.
A Bujaru map poster renders this river landscape in fine black-and-white lines: the compact town, the wide river and the many creeks branching into the forest. It suits people from the municipality, families who have moved to Belém or further afield, and anyone drawn to the watery geography of the lower Amazon.
