La carte
Carini Map Poster & Print
Carini lies in the province of Palermo, west of the city, on the slopes of the hills behind the Gulf of Carini. The old town climbs the hillside around its castle in narrow lanes and steps. The newer districts spread down toward the plain and the coast, where holiday homes and seaside neighbourhoods line the shore.
The town is known for its castle of Norman origin, which dominates the historic centre, and for the story of the Baroness of Carini. She was a noblewoman killed in the sixteenth century, and her fate became the subject of a famous Sicilian ballad. The plain below has long been planted with citrus and olive trees.
A Carini map poster reads from the hills down to the sea. The tight lanes of the old town sit high on the slope, the roads descend in curves across the plain, and the coastline closes the composition with a long, gentle arc. The mix of relief and shoreline makes for a layered, balanced design.

Descent to the coast
Roads wind down from the hillside toward the plain and the gulf, creating a series of flowing lines that link the old town with its seaside neighbourhoods.
Gulf of Carini
The shoreline curves along the northern side of the map, a broad sweep of coast that gives the poster a calm expanse of open sea.
