Dense town core
At the centre, narrow lanes and closely spaced buildings form a compact, intricate cluster. It is the darkest and most detailed part of the map.

La carte
Chharra Map Poster & Print
Chharra is in Aligarh district in western Uttar Pradesh, on the level alluvial land of the Doab between the Ganges and the Yamuna. The terrain here is almost completely flat, so the map is shaped by roads, settlements and field boundaries rather than by hills or coastlines. The town appears as a concentrated knot of streets in the middle of cultivated countryside.
Like many market towns in the region, Chharra has a tightly packed centre where buildings and lanes crowd close together. Roads lead out toward surrounding villages and larger towns. Beyond the built-up area, the land is divided into fields that change colour with the seasons. Scattered ponds and irrigation channels show up here and there.
A Chharra map poster emphasises the contrast between the dense town centre and the open plain around it. The roads leading away give the image a radiating structure, and the town sits at its heart. It is a simple, honest portrait of a working agricultural town in northern India.

Radiating roads
Several routes leave the town toward neighbouring villages and towns. They create strong lines that give the composition a clear structure.
Doab farmland
Around Chharra, the flat alluvial plain is divided into fields. On the poster it appears as a quiet, open surround that sets off the town.
