Square-block grid
The town is built on a grid of evenly sized blocks. The regularity is so consistent that the whole plan reads like a sheet of graph paper.

Chivilcoy Map Poster & Print
Chivilcoy lies in the heart of Buenos Aires province, on the open grassland of the Pampas west of the capital. The land is almost perfectly flat and devoted to farming and cattle. The town's plan reflects this. A grid of square blocks, typical of Argentine towns in the province, extends in every direction with very few interruptions.
Green plazas punctuate the pattern at regular intervals, and railway lines cut diagonally across it, a reminder of how the railways connected the Pampas to the port. Outside the town the grid carries on as rural roads and field boundaries, forming a larger checkerboard that fades to the horizon.
A Chivilcoy map poster is a study in order. Repeated squares, occasional open plazas and the straight lines of track make a composition that feels architectural. In monochrome the regularity becomes the design itself, and the few breaks in the pattern stand out clearly.

Plazas as landmarks
Open plazas break up the grid at intervals. On the poster they appear as small, calm squares that help you find your way around the town.
Railway diagonals
Rail lines cross the town at an angle to the street grid. They add a few strong diagonals that break up the otherwise perfect squares.
