Cicero Map Poster & Print
Cicero lies directly west of Chicago, and on a map the boundary between them is almost invisible, because the same rectangular street grid runs straight through both. Long east–west roads and north–south avenues divide the town into regular blocks of houses, with alleys running down the middle of many of them, a pattern that gives the print an even, measured rhythm.
The grid is interrupted by rail corridors and the larger footprints of industrial land, remnants of the town's manufacturing past. Cicero was home to Western Electric's Hawthorne Works, a huge telephone equipment plant that gave its name to the Hawthorne studies in workplace psychology. The town is also remembered for its association with Al Capone in the 1920s.
A Cicero map poster shows how a working suburb was built: dense, orderly and connected to the city by straight roads. There are no rivers or coastlines to soften it, so the composition relies entirely on the geometry of the streets, which in black and white becomes a clean, almost architectural pattern.

Alley network
Many residential blocks are split by rear alleys, adding a second, finer layer of lines between the main streets and giving the map its dense, textile-like surface.
Rail and industry
Railway lines and large former industrial sites break the grid with long diagonals and open plots, recalling the era when the Hawthorne Works employed tens of thousands.

Pourquoi Cicero
Une carte qui a du sens
For families with roots in Cicero, the grid is familiar ground: the block where grandparents lived, the avenue with the corner shop, the route to the rail line. A map poster turns that everyday geography into something worth framing, without leaning on landmarks.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be changed to mark a street, a family name or a year, and the design comes in five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Choose a $9 digital file or a printed poster shipped from a local partner.
