Cueto Map Poster
Cueto lies in Holguín Province in eastern Cuba, inland from the northern coast and not far from the town of Mayarí. From above, it shows the compact grid typical of Cuban towns, with a central square and straight blocks. A railway line passes through it, a reminder of the sugar industry that shaped much of this part of the island.
Cueto is widely known through music. The town is named in Chan Chan, the son by Compay Segundo made famous by the Buena Vista Social Club, which traces a journey from Alto Cedro to Marcané, on to Cueto and then Mayarí. Those place names map a real route through the countryside of Holguín.
A Cueto map poster gives form to a name many people know only as a lyric. The town's regular blocks, railway line and surrounding roads sit within open, gently hilly land. In black and white, the plan is clear and orderly, a small town with a well-defined centre and fields close around it.

Railway line
A rail line runs through Cueto, linking it with nearby towns and the region's sugar economy, and forming a strong diagonal across the map.
Route of Chan Chan
Roads leading towards Mayarí and Marcané follow the journey in the famous song, making the wider map a small piece of musical geography.

Pourquoi Cueto
Une carte qui a du sens
For fans of Cuban son, a map of Cueto is a quietly personal reference that others may recognise. For families from Holguín, it shows the streets of home. Either way, the clean grid works well on a wall.
Add a title, a line from the song as a subtitle, or a date, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters are on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
