Darwin Map Poster & Print
Darwin, the capital of Australia's Northern Territory, sits on a peninsula between Port Darwin and the Timor Sea. On a map, water surrounds it on nearly every side. The compact city centre sits at the southern tip above the harbour. Suburbs spread north along a coastline of beaches, headlands and mangrove creeks, while the Stuart Highway leaves for the long drive south.
The city has been rebuilt more than once. It was bombed by Japanese aircraft in 1942 and largely destroyed by Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day 1974. Much of its present street pattern dates from the reconstruction that followed. Today Darwin is known for its dry-season markets at Mindil Beach, for its position close to Asia and for sunsets over open water.
A Darwin map poster shows a city defined by edges. The Esplanade follows the cliff above the harbour. Fannie Bay and East Point curve out to the west, and the long airport runway, shared with an air force base, cuts diagonally through the northern suburbs. Mangrove inlets add soft, irregular shapes where land and sea blur.

Fannie Bay and East Point
West of the centre, the coast curves into a wide bay and ends at a wooded headland. It gives the map a graceful, sweeping shoreline.
Runway in the suburbs
The airport's main runway lies right in the middle of the northern suburbs, and its long straight line is one of the boldest features on the map.

Pourquoi Darwin
Une carte qui a du sens
Darwin draws people who come for a posting, a job or a few dry seasons and end up staying longer than planned. A map of its peninsula is a clear, graphic reminder of that life by the water.
Add your suburb, the year you arrived or the coordinates, and choose one of five styles. Sand echoes the red earth of the Top End, and Blueprint makes the harbour and creeks read like a nautical chart.
