Coporolo River
The river is the backbone of the map. It crosses dry ground toward the ocean in a single winding line and explains why the town and its fields sit exactly where they do.

Dombe Grande Map Poster & Print
Dombe Grande lies south of Benguela in Angola's coastal belt, where the Coporolo River cuts a strip of irrigated ground through otherwise arid country. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets beside the riverbed. Field boundaries spread outward from it, and unpaved tracks come in from the surrounding farms. The first thing the eye notices is the contrast between the farmed valley and the bare slopes.
The valley has long been farmed, and its fertile soil sets it apart from the drier land along this part of the coast. On a monochrome print, that history shows in the lines themselves: a river running toward the sea, a settlement built close beside it, and a loose web of paths linking plots that follow the water rather than any planned grid.
A Dombe Grande map poster works best at a scale that keeps both the town and a stretch of the Coporolo in frame. Tighter crops show the street pattern clearly, and wider ones bring in the river's course toward the Atlantic. Either way the result is quiet and sparse, a place drawn mostly by its water and the ground that water feeds.

Irrigated valley floor
Field edges and farm tracks spread across the valley in an irregular mesh. This pattern looks very different from the bare, lightly marked hills rising on either side.
Coastal setting
Wider frames reach toward the Atlantic shoreline west of the town and place Dombe Grande within the long, dry coastal strip of Benguela province.

Pourquoi Dombe Grande
Une carte qui a du sens
People who grew up in the valley, or whose families farmed there, often want a record of the place that is plain and exact rather than decorative. A black-and-white map does that. It keeps the river and streets clear without adding anything that was never there.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line yourself, adding a family name or a date that matters, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 and include six print sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a PDF.
