The Cuanza River
The river runs past the town as a wide, confident curve. It is the defining line of the print, and the streets arrange themselves along it.

Dondo Map Poster & Print
Seen from above, Dondo sits beside the Cuanza, one of Angola's longest rivers, and its layout follows the water. A compact core of streets lies near the riverbank. Further out, the grid loosens into scattered blocks and roads that head inland across the surrounding hills and savanna. On a monochrome print the river becomes the strongest line on the sheet, a broad ribbon that sets the direction for everything around it.
Dondo is known as an old river port. For a long time it stood at the practical head of navigation on the lower Cuanza, where goods coming upriver from the coast changed hands for the journey inland. That role shows in how the town sits: close to the water, with roads spreading outward from the bank. The Dondo map poster keeps these connections in view without adding any colour to them.
The surrounding land in Cuanza Norte is green and rolling, and on a map it shows up as open space broken by tracks and small settlements. Leaving out labels and relief gives a quiet composition. Dense lines gather near the river and grow sparse further away, which is a fair picture of a town that grew out of its landing place.

Riverside core
The oldest and densest streets sit close to the bank, where the town's life as a river port began. They form the tightest part of the street pattern.
Roads inland
Routes leave the centre and head into the hills of Cuanza Norte. On paper they look like thin threads connecting the port to the wider interior.

Pourquoi Dondo
Une carte qui a du sens
For people with family roots in Cuanza Norte, or anyone who has travelled along the Cuanza, this map holds a specific place: a town that grew from the river's edge. It suits a study or a hallway, where a single strong line can carry a whole wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a date or a short phrase. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
