Pajeú riverbed
The river winds past the town in a series of curves, and its channel shows on the map as a strong natural line against the regular grid of streets.

Floresta Map Poster & Print
Floresta is a municipality in the sertão of Pernambuco, the semi-arid interior of northeastern Brazil. Despite its name, which means forest, the landscape around it is caatinga, a dry scrubland of thorny shrubs and cacti adapted to long dry seasons. The town sits beside the Pajeú, a river that flows strongly in the rainy months and can dwindle in the dry season.
On a map the town is a compact grid next to the riverbed, with the river's course running in a winding line near the edge of the streets. Beyond that the land opens into wide, sparsely settled country, crossed by long straight roads and tracks connecting ranches and small communities across the sertão.
A Floresta map poster captures the look of the Brazilian interior: a small, orderly town, a river that sets the rhythm of life and a huge, open landscape around them. The generous empty space around the town gives the design a calm, spacious feel that suits minimalist interiors.

Compact grid
The town's blocks form a tight, mostly rectangular pattern, clearly separated from the open land around it and easy to read at any print size.
Open sertão
Around the town, long roads and scattered tracks cross the wide caatinga, leaving large quiet areas on the map that emphasise the scale of the interior.

Pourquoi Floresta
Une carte qui a du sens
The sertão shapes the people who come from it, and many families from Floresta now live in Recife, São Paulo or elsewhere. A poster of the town, titled with a family name or a date, keeps a link to the river and the open land.
Sand and Paper suit the warm, dry landscape, while Classic black and white, Noir and Blueprint give a crisper look. The $9 download includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files, or order a matte print.
