Shing Mun channel
The river runs as a broad, straightened channel along the western edge. It gives the print a strong, clean band of water beside the built-up land.

La carte
Fo Tan Map Poster & Print
Fo Tan is in Sha Tin District in Hong Kong's New Territories, on the east side of the Shing Mun River channel. From above, you can see a tight wedge of land. Industrial buildings and housing estates fill the flat ground near the water. Steep, wooded hills rise sharply behind them, and a small valley leads inland from the channel.
The East Rail line runs along the edge of the district, with a station at Fo Tan and another beside the Sha Tin Racecourse just to the north. The racecourse oval is one of the most recognisable shapes in the area. Fo Tan's older factory buildings are known for housing artists' studios, which has given the district a reputation well beyond its size.
A Fo Tan map poster brings together very different forms: the straight river channel, the oval track, dense rectangles of industrial blocks and the irregular contours of the hills. It suits artists who worked in the studios, residents of the estates and anyone who rides the East Rail line past it every day.

Racecourse oval
Sha Tin Racecourse, just to the north beside the channel, forms a large, precise oval. Almost nothing else in the surrounding district has a shape like it.
Industrial blocks
The flat ground holds tightly packed factory and warehouse buildings, many now used as studios. On the map they form a dense grid set against the open hillsides.

Pourquoi Fo Tan
Une carte qui a du sens
The map is for people who spent years in a Fo Tan studio, grew up in one of the estates or commute through Sha Tin. It captures an unusual corner of Hong Kong where industry, art and hills meet.
Add a studio name, a building or a date in the title and subtitle, and keep the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir works especially well with the dense industrial grain.
