Fuchun River
The river runs across the map in a wide band with islands and sandbars, giving the composition a strong horizontal line and plenty of open white space.

La carte
Fuyang Map Poster & Print
Fuyang is a district of Hangzhou set on the Fuchun River, the stretch of the Qiantang system that flows out of the hills to the south-west. From above the river is the defining feature, broad and gently curving, with islands and sandbars in its channel. Newer districts spread along the northern bank in wide blocks, while the hills close in on both sides.
The Fuchun valley is the landscape of Huang Gongwang's fourteenth-century scroll Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, one of the most celebrated paintings in Chinese history. Fuyang is also traditionally linked to the Sun family of the Three Kingdoms period, and more recently it hosted events of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
A Fuyang map poster places all of this in a clean frame: the wide river in the middle, the planned grid on its bank, and the fine lines of hill roads fading out at the edges. It has something of the scroll painting's structure, a long horizontal view where water and hills share the space.

Riverside grid
New residential and business districts line the northern bank in large, regular blocks, a clear sign of Hangzhou's growth to the west.
Hill edges
Where the valley narrows, streets give way to winding roads and valleys, adding fine, irregular detail around the edges of the frame.

Pourquoi Fuyang
Une carte qui a du sens
Fuyang suits people who know the Fuchun River, whether they live in the district or remember the landscape from the famous scroll. The map echoes that view in modern form, and the wide river looks especially good in a landscape frame.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to show a Chinese name, an address or a special date. Try Paper or Sand for a softer feel close to ink painting. Digital files cost $9 and come without watermark in six sizes.
