Ganja Map Poster & Print
Ganja stretches along the Ganjachay, a river that runs north from the Lesser Caucasus through the middle of the city. On the map the riverbed forms a clear line dividing the eastern and western districts, with bridges connecting the two sides. The land is gently sloping, and the foothills start to rise just beyond the southern edge.
The central districts are laid out in a fairly regular pattern of long avenues and cross streets, much of it shaped by planning in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Parks and tree-lined boulevards break up the grid, and industrial areas and railway lines lie toward the north. Ganja is one of Azerbaijan's largest cities and an old trading centre on routes across the South Caucasus.
A Ganja map poster brings together the river, the avenues and the foothills in one view. The city is closely associated with Nizami Ganjavi, the twelfth-century Persian-language poet who was born here and whose mausoleum stands just outside the centre. For many people, the city's name alone is enough to recall his verses.

Central avenues
Long, straight streets and cross streets give the centre a regular structure, interrupted by parks and squares that appear as open spaces in the grid.
Toward the mountains
To the south the terrain rises toward the Lesser Caucasus, and roads leave the city heading for the foothills and the lakes beyond.
