At the centre, a knot of short, irregular lanes and closely packed plots shows where the original settlement grew before the city approached.

Gorjī-ye Soflá Map Poster & Print
Gorjī-ye Soflá lies in Razavi Khorasan, very close to the edge of Mashhad, on the broad plain of north-eastern Iran. The name marks it as the lower of two related settlements, soflá being the Persian word for lower. Places like this once stood on their own in farmland and now sit in the path of a fast-growing city.
The map shows both layers at once. The older core has an irregular pattern of lanes and compact blocks, typical of a village that grew over time. Around it, newer streets are laid out in straighter, more regular lines as urban development moves outward across the plain.
A Gorjī-ye Soflá map poster captures that meeting point. Tight, organic lanes sit beside wide planned roads, with the pull of Mashhad visible at the edge of the frame. The composition documents a place in transition, something a map conveys better than a photograph.

Urban edge
Newer, straighter streets reach toward and around the settlement, showing the steady outward growth of the Mashhad metropolitan area.
Plain and mountains
The land around is flat and open, bounded in the distance by mountain ranges, so roads run long and straight across the plain.
