La carte
Haar Map Poster
Haar lies just beyond the eastern edge of Munich, on the broad, level gravel plain that stretches away from the city. It is closely tied to the Bavarian capital by road and by the S-Bahn, and on a map its streets merge almost seamlessly with the outer districts of Munich to the west, while open land opens up to the east.
For more than a century Haar has been home to a large psychiatric hospital, founded in the early twentieth century and now part of the Isar-Amper-Klinikum. Its extensive grounds form a distinct campus of pavilions, paths and trees, and part of the former hospital site has been redeveloped as a new residential quarter.
A Haar map poster shows a community with its own identity on the edge of a major city, with residential neighbourhoods, open fields and the orderly layout of the hospital grounds in one frame. It suits commuters, long-standing residents and anyone who knows the quieter eastern side of the Munich region.

S-Bahn line
The railway runs through the municipality toward central Munich, cutting a straight line across the map and tying Haar closely to the city.
Edge of the plain
Residential streets give way to open farmland and woodland to the east, where the level gravel plain around Munich continues into the countryside.
