La carte
Hannibal Map Poster & Print
Hannibal lies on the west bank of the Mississippi River in north-east Missouri. The historic downtown sits on flat land by the river in a regular grid, and the city climbs onto bluffs to the north and south. On a map, the long line of the river, the railway along its bank and the rising hills give the place a strong, simple structure.
Hannibal is best known as the boyhood home of Mark Twain, who used it as the model for St. Petersburg in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. His boyhood home and museum stand downtown, and Cardiff Hill, with its lighthouse, overlooks the streets he wrote about. Bear Creek flows into the Mississippi here, cutting a valley through the city.
South of downtown, Lovers Leap rises above the river, and a bridge carries traffic across to Illinois. A Hannibal map poster brings together these familiar landmarks and the plain logic of a river town. It shows a grid by the water, streets curling up the bluffs and the great river filling one side of the frame.

Pourquoi Hannibal
Une carte qui a du sens
Hannibal speaks to readers of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, to people who grew up along the river and to travellers who have stood on Cardiff Hill watching the barges pass. The map turns that literary and personal connection into a quiet graphic piece.
Personalise the title and subtitle, add a date or a line from a favourite book, and edit the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and get HD files for $9 or a printed poster on matte paper.
