Susquehanna River
The river is broad and shallow here and scattered with islands. It fills much of the frame and gives the poster its open, calm character.

La carte
Harrisburg Map Poster & Print
Harrisburg sits on the east bank of the Susquehanna River, which is very wide here and full of low islands. Downtown follows a grid set a little off the river's line, with the Pennsylvania State Capitol at its eastern end. Residential streets climb gently inland from the waterfront toward the ridges behind.
The river takes up a large share of any map of the city. City Island sits in the middle of the channel and is reached by the Walnut Street Bridge, a historic truss bridge now used by pedestrians. Other road and rail bridges cross the water in a series of parallel lines.
Riverfront Park runs for miles along the east bank, so a green strip sits between the city and the water. A Harrisburg map poster shows a state capital defined by one great river, with its government district, bridges and island within a few blocks of each other.
