Oude Maas riverfront
The river runs along the district's southern side as a wide, smooth band that frames the neighbourhoods and separates them from the land beyond.

La carte
Hoogvliet Map Poster & Print
Hoogvliet is a district of Rotterdam on the north bank of the Oude Maas, southwest of the city centre. It was once a small village, but after the Second World War it was expanded as a new town, largely to house workers from the nearby Shell refinery and the growing port industry at Pernis and Botlek.
From above, its plan shows those intentions clearly. Neighbourhoods are arranged in separate units with curving streets, courtyards and plenty of green space, divided by parks and water. Motorways and industrial zones border the district, and the river forms a broad southern edge.
A Hoogvliet map poster sets these planned neighbourhoods against the river and the large, geometric shapes of the port facilities. In black and white, the contrast between residential curves, straight canals and industrial blocks makes a strong graphic print, a portrait of Dutch post-war planning.

Planned neighbourhoods
Post-war residential units with curving streets and green courtyards give the district a distinct, deliberate pattern, clearly different from an old town centre.
Port and industry edge
Nearby refinery and harbour areas appear as large geometric blocks and straight lines, a strong contrast to the residential streets.

Pourquoi Hoogvliet
Une carte qui a du sens
Many Rotterdam families have a Hoogvliet chapter, often tied to work in the port. A map of the district captures that history and the green neighbourhoods people remember.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a street name or the year you moved in, and choose a style: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
