IJmuiden Map Poster & Print
IJmuiden stands where the North Sea Canal meets the North Sea, west of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Velsen. From above, it is dominated by engineering. The canal runs straight in from the east, the lock complex sits at its mouth, and long harbour moles reach far out into the sea. The town's streets fill the ground beside them, with dunes to the south.
The sea locks here control shipping to and from the port of Amsterdam. The newest, opened in 2022, is among the largest sea locks in the world. On the north bank lie the extensive steelworks, and the town also has a significant fishing port. Beaches and dunes line the coast next to the harbour.
An IJmuiden map poster is a study of Dutch water management in plan view. The parallel lock chambers, the long moles, the basins of the fishing harbour and the neat residential streets make a highly graphic composition. Few places show so clearly how the Netherlands has shaped its coastline.

Harbour moles
Two long breakwaters curve out into the North Sea to protect the entrance. On the poster they draw bold lines across the open water.
North Sea Canal
The canal runs straight inland toward Amsterdam. It gives the map a strong east–west axis between the steelworks and the town.

Pourquoi IJmuiden
Une carte qui a du sens
IJmuiden suits anyone who loves harbours, ships or Dutch engineering, and people who grew up by the locks and dunes. Its sharp, geometric waterfront is among the most graphic coastlines you can put on a wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a ship name, a date or a family name. It comes in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as an HD file or a printed poster, optionally framed.
