Itambacuri Map Poster & Print
Itambacuri lies in northeastern Minas Gerais, in the hilly country of the Mucuri region. The landscape here is made up of rounded hills and narrow valleys, and the town fits into it. Streets gather on the lower ground and climb the slopes where they can, so the street pattern looks compact and irregular.
The town grew from a nineteenth-century mission settlement founded by Capuchin friars, and its centre is still arranged around a main church and square. From there, streets extend along the valley and up the hillsides. Main roads leave town toward the other centres of the region, including Teófilo Otoni.
An Itambacuri map poster gives a clear picture of a small inland Brazilian town. It has a dense core around its church, lanes that follow the terrain and a wide ring of pastures and hills stretching toward the horizon on every side.

Valley streets
Streets follow the lower ground between hills, bending and branching as the land allows. They give the town an uneven, organic outline.
Mucuri hills
Rounded hills and pastures surround the town, and they fill the poster's margins with a calm, open landscape crossed by a few rural roads.

Une carte qui a du sens
