Serra de Jacobina
The ridges surrounding the town appear as broad empty areas on the map, their presence felt in the way every street bends and ends at their base.

La carte
Jacobina Map Poster & Print
Jacobina lies in the north-central interior of Bahia, where a line of ridges known as the Serra de Jacobina rises above the surrounding backlands. The town has grown in the valley at the base of these hills, and from above its shape is clearly dictated by the relief: streets bunch together on the lower ground and stop where slopes become too steep.
Watercourses run through the town, and the main streets tend to follow them, giving the centre a long, winding form rather than a grid. Newer neighbourhoods climb short distances up the hillsides or spread along the roads that lead out of the valley, leaving green, unbuilt ridges framing the edges of the map.
Gold has been mined in the Jacobina hills since colonial times, and mining remains part of the local economy today. The surrounding serra, with its waterfalls and viewpoints, also draws visitors from across the state. A Jacobina map poster shows how firmly the landscape has shaped the town.

Valley-floor centre
The historic core sits on the lowest ground, where streets are tightest and follow the line of the valley instead of a planned grid.
Roads out of the hills
A few main roads thread through gaps in the relief, and new neighbourhoods have grown along them in narrow ribbons.

Pourquoi Jacobina
Une carte qui a du sens
For people from Jacobina, the ridges are the horizon of home, and a map shows why: the whole town is held in the valley. It makes a meaningful gift for someone who grew up there or has moved away to Salvador or further.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates line of your choice and select one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir brings out the pale line of the streets against the dark mass of the surrounding hills.
