João Dourado Map Poster & Print
João Dourado is a municipality in the interior of Bahia, on the high plateau of the Irecê region in Brazil's semi-arid northeast. On a map, the town centre is a compact grid of streets that fans out into roads crossing open agricultural land. The pattern is typical of the planned market towns of the sertão.
The Irecê region is known as one of Bahia's farming areas, where crops are grown on the plateau despite the dry climate. Around João Dourado, the landscape reads as a mosaic of rectangular fields and straight rural roads, a sign of how intensively the land has been worked.
A João Dourado map poster shows a small Brazilian interior town in clean lines, with a tidy central grid, a few main routes leading out towards neighbouring towns and a wide surrounding pattern of fields. It is simple and well ordered, a quiet portrait of life in the Bahian interior.
