La carte
Kanjari Map Poster & Print
Kanjari lies in Kheda district in central Gujarat, in the farming belt between Anand and Nadiad known as Charotar. The region is flat, well watered and densely settled, so towns and villages sit close together and are linked by a thick web of roads. On a map, Kanjari shows up as one bright node in that network.
The older part of town is a tight cluster of narrow lanes, where houses stand shoulder to shoulder around small open spaces. Newer housing spreads along the approach roads. Past the last buildings the fields begin, and their straight boundaries and tracks give the edge of the map a calm, geometric feel.
A Kanjari map poster captures that close relationship between town and countryside. It shows no dramatic coastline or river, only the plain, hard-won pattern of a working agricultural town, which makes for a quiet and very legible composition. Many Gujarati families abroad trace their roots to this part of the state, which gives the map a particular meaning.
