Karabash Map Poster & Print
Karabash lies in the Chelyabinsk region, in the hilly country east of the main Ural ridge. It grew up around copper mining and smelting, and the map shows how closely the town and its industry are bound together. Residential streets cluster in the valleys, the smelter complex sits nearby, and slag heaps and worked ground mark the edges.
The terrain is broken and uneven. Streets follow the lower ground between hills rather than a planned grid, and lakes and ponds fill several hollows in the surrounding landscape. Karabash is widely known for the environmental damage caused by decades of smelting, which left many surrounding slopes bare. On a monochrome map, those open areas appear as unusually empty space next to the town.
A Karabash map poster shows an industrial Ural town without embellishment. It is a record of how mining shaped a settlement's footprint. The layout is honest and irregular: workers' neighbourhoods, the plant, water bodies and hills. For people who come from here, it is a recognisable and meaningful outline.

Valley streets
Housing follows the lower ground between hills, forming several loosely connected clusters. The streets curve with the terrain instead of following a single grid.
Lakes and hollows
Ponds and small lakes sit in depressions around the town. Their shapes soften the otherwise angular industrial composition and help anchor the map's edges.

Pourquoi Karabash
Une carte qui a du sens
Karabash is a hometown to many people and a subject of interest for anyone who follows industrial history. The poster presents its unusual geography calmly and precisely, without romanticising it.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in Latin or Cyrillic lettering. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir gives the industrial layout a strong, dark presence.
