Kenora Map Poster & Print
Kenora sits at the northern tip of Lake of the Woods in north-western Ontario, where the lake drains into the Winnipeg River. From above it is as much water as land. Bays cut deep into the shoreline, islands scatter across the frame, and streets squeeze onto the rocky peninsulas between them.
The town's name comes from an amalgamation in the early twentieth century of Keewatin, Norman and Rat Portage, the older name of the settlement. Kenora has long been a gateway for cottagers, anglers and boaters heading into the lake's many channels, and the Trans-Canada Highway passes through on its way between Winnipeg and the rest of Ontario.
A Kenora map poster is mostly shoreline, and that is its appeal. The town's streets follow the edges of the bays, bridges link pieces of land, and the lake spreads out in a maze of inlets and islands. Few towns of this size produce such an intricate and striking outline.

Winnipeg River outlet
Here the lake drains into the Winnipeg River, and the outflow channels near Kenora and the former town of Keewatin give the western side of the map its shape.
Peninsula streets
Streets and houses fit onto narrow strips of rock between inlets, so the road network follows the shoreline in curving lines instead of a regular grid.

Pourquoi Kenora
Une carte qui a du sens
Kenora means summers on the lake for many families from Manitoba and Ontario. A map of its bays and islands brings back cottage mornings and boat routes, and it makes a thoughtful gift for anyone with a place on the water.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a cottage name or family name, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Noir suit all that water especially well.
