Kodamthuruth Map Poster & Print
Kodamthuruth lies in Alappuzha district of Kerala, south of Kochi, on the narrow coastal belt between the Arabian Sea and the backwaters. The name contains thuruth, a common Malayalam word for an island or raised piece of land. The map fits it: water is never far away, and the land is cut by channels and ponds.
There is no central grid here. Houses spread among coconut groves and small fields, reached by narrow lanes that often end at the water. The main road runs roughly north to south along the coast, parallel to the sea and the backwaters, and many shorter paths branch off it.
A Kodamthuruth map poster shows the backwater landscape of central Kerala in fine detail. In black and white, the thin canals and irregular pond shapes create an intricate pattern, almost like a textile. It is a map of a place defined by water as much as land.

Coastal strip
The village lies on a long, thin belt of land, so the main routes run north to south between the sea on one side and the backwaters on the other.
Garden lanes
Short lanes lead through coconut groves to scattered houses, giving the map a loose, even texture rather than a concentrated centre.

For Malayalis living in the Gulf, Europe or anywhere else, a map of the home panchayat means much more than a generic Kerala image. The lanes, the canals and the road to the coast are all there.
Add a family name, a house name or a date, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files are $9 with no watermark, and printed matte posters are also available, with an optional wooden frame.
