Kolpino Map Poster & Print
Kolpino sits on the southeastern edge of St. Petersburg, formally part of the city yet laid out as a town of its own. The Izhora River runs through it from south to north, widening into a pond behind an old dam near the centre. From above, the river is the organising line: streets gather along its banks, and large industrial grounds press against the water.
The town grew around the Izhora works, founded in the early eighteenth century under Peter the Great to supply the Admiralty. That long industrial role shows on the map as broad blocks of workshops and sidings beside finer residential streets. During the Siege of Leningrad the front line ran close to Kolpino, and the town's workers helped hold it through the war.
A Kolpino map poster renders all of this in plain black line: the curve of the river, the pond, the railway between St. Petersburg and Moscow, and the newer housing districts spread across the flat land around the older core. It is a compact, legible composition, readable at a glance and still rewarding when viewed up close.

Industrial riverside
Large factory grounds line the Izhora, drawn as wide rectangular blocks that contrast clearly with the smaller pattern of residential streets around them.
Main railway line
The line between St. Petersburg and Moscow crosses the town as a long straight stroke, dividing older neighbourhoods from the later residential districts.

Pourquoi Kolpino
Une carte qui a du sens
For people who grew up in Kolpino or worked at the plant, the map holds familiar distances: the walk along the pond, the route to the station. It suits a hallway or a study, and it makes a considered gift for someone who has moved away from the edge of St. Petersburg.
You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a year or a family name, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
